A prospect of Detroit Tigers recently suffered a pretty horrible injury.

Hao-Yu Lee, ranked as the number 6 of the team according to MLB pipeline and play for Triple-A Toledo, took an 89 km / h zinc shed to the face during the 5-2 loss of Toledo for the Columbus Clippers on Wednesday 4 June.

Lee left the game with the help of a trainer. The size of his injury is not yet known.

The Tigers have taken Lee in a trade for pitcher Michael Lorenzen on 1 August 2023 and the Infielder has since hit well in the Tigers organization. He had a .851 OPS in 386 plate performances for Double-a Erie in 2024 and cuts .262/.356/.400 in 225 plate performances for Toledo in 2025.

Lee is currently the best rated third base perspective in the Tigers organization according to MLB Pipeline, who has divided his time this season between second base (24 games), the third base (24 games) and designated Hitter (three games).

This is not the first time that Lee has been in the head in the Tigers organization. He was hit by a 92 MPH Fastball while playing with Erie in a match on 13 June against the Altoona Curve, and then nine days later against the Somerset Patriots on a 95 MPH Fastball.

Lee is originally from the new Taipei, Taiwan and represented Chinese Taipei in the Asian Games of 2022.
